28th Annual Beautification Awards
Gardens are at their finest in the summer but well-planned landscaping, enhanced by seasonal flowers and striking natural elements, provides beauty all year-long. The Beautification Commission of the City of Northville and of Northville Township came together on Sept. 26 for the annual Beautification Awards luncheon, sponsored by Northville Rotary Club.
Approximately 80 business owners, community leaders and others attended the event held at First Presbyterian Church on Main Street. The City’s Beautification Commission Chairperson Diane Pittaway provided a brief history of the organization, which is celebrating 50 years in 2017.
Northville Mayor Ken Roth congratulated the City’s Beautification Commission on its golden anniversary and said the City reaps rewards from being known as a beautiful place by visitors and residents alike.
The City presented awards to 30 recipients with Best of Town going to Elizabeth Clancy, owner of Elizabeth’s Bridal Manor on 402 S. Main. (See the list below.) Winners receive a sign for their garden area from the Beautification Commission.
The Township presented awards to 19 recipients – ranging from restaurants and companies to a funeral home and assisted living center. Award winners in the township received an exterior sign and a window sticker.
