Birth Records

The City of Northville does not maintain local files pertaining to birth records, including those events that might have occurred in the City of Northville.

All records of birth, including birth events that occurred in the City of Northville should have been forwarded to the State of Michigan. This includes births that occurred at home or in a hospital that is no longer in operation.

The State of Michigan vital records office has records of births that occurred in Michigan and were filed with the state as early as 1867. To determine whether a birth record was filed with the State of Michigan, regardless of what hospital, or what city/county the individual was born in, an individual must request that the State do a birth record search. If no birth record is located, the State will inform the individual on how to file a delayed registration of birth.

**Please Note: Individuals born between 1933 and 1978, whose parents were not married at the time of the birth, would not likely have a birth record filed with the County as those birth records were sent directly to the state office.
