New phone scam reported to Northville Police
Posted on 01/31/2019
Northville residents should be aware of a telephone scam that involves a caller identifying themselves as an IRS representative who demands the transferring of money cards to them to avoid arrest.

Recently a resident in a neighboring community received this scam call, which showed the call originating from 248-349-5100 – the Northville Police Department administrative line.

A common practice of scammers, according to Police Captain Dustin Krueger, is to use available technology that allows them to modify the information that appears on caller ID. Residents should be assured that the Northville City Police Department is not attempting to contact anyone regarding tax issues.

If you receive one of these calls, do not give the caller any personal information or transfer any funds. Contact your local Police Department to report the incident.
