Poised to write a letter of interest. City Council Member Sam Ekong announced his resignation on March 25 with approximately eight months left on his four-year term. His departure is due to the sale of his house and plans to move out of the city. The City Council is seeking letters of interest from City residents who are registered voters and would like to fill the remaining months of this term.

Letters of interest should include the applicant’s full name and address, phone number, and email address. Applicants should express why they want to serve on City Council and what areas of expertise they would bring to this position. Candidates should list their educational and occupational background as well as any civic involvement they have had in the City. Council intends to interview potential candidates at a special meeting on April 22. The tenure is roughly six months with an anticipated start day at a City Council meeting in May. Voters will decide who fills the seat for a four-year term at the Nov. 2, 2021 meeting.

Letters of interest may be emailed to Dianne Massa, City Clerk, at [email protected] or deposited in the drop box on the circle drive in front of City Hall. Letters must be sent to the City Clerk by 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 14.
