Road work signs will denote areas under construction. The City of Northville‘s 2000-2021 road reconstruction and rehabilitation program begins the week of May 11. In tandem, work is underway on N. Rogers and W. Cady for reconstruction of the water main and sanitary sewer. Residents in the construction zone have been notified of work on their streets via door hangers.

Work by Nagel Paving, the City’s road contractor, will include the following repairs to these five streets:

• Baseline – mill and overlay from N. Center to Novi St.
• Coldspring – mill and overlay from Coldspring Dr. to McDonald Dr.
• Sherrie Lane – mill and overlay from Jeffery Dr. to Hillridge St.
• Stanstead – full reconstruction from Battleford Lane to Elmsmere Dr.
• Summerside – full reconstruction from Battleford Lane to Elmsmere Dr.

Bidigare Contractors, of Plymouth Twp., is working on the 2020 Water Main Replacement program on five streets: N. Rogers from Potomac St. to W. Main; High St. from Randolph to W. Dunlap; W. Cady St. from S. Wing to S. Rogers; Grace St. from Maplewood to Baseline Rd., and Grace Court from Maplewood to dead end.

The Department of Public Works and the City’s engineering consultants, Fleis & VandenBrink, will have personnel on site to manage these projects.

Despite the late start of construction due to the Covid-19 restrictions, the two construction companies are able to start on major projects while home owners are still staying home and there’s reduced traffic on the roads.

“We understand construction may interfere with our residents’ daily activities and, in all road and utility construction projects, we do our best to ensure as little down time and inconvenience as possible,” said DPW Director Loyd Cureton.

During road construction, street parking is not permitted. Hours of work are typically from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Updates on road construction will be posted regularly on Fleis & VandenBrink’s information portal. (Until that web page is updated with 2020 projects, please view this PDF.) View the map of the streets being repaired and reconstructed here

This construction work is the result of voter approval in 2018 of the issuance of $3,050,000 in bonds, paid for over 10 years to finance street improvements.
