A Great Place to Call Home

Located at the top of High Street, near downtown Northville, Allen Terrace offers a beautiful apartment community for active, independent senior citizens, 55 years and older.

It is a well-maintained, 100-unit low-rise apartment building constructed in 1978 with continual updates over the years. Owned and operated by the City of Northville, Allen Terrace provides comfortable, safe, affordable housing with 98 one-bedroom apartments and 2 two-bedroom apartments. Allen Terrace rents remain below market rate and include heat, electricity and water.

Access to the building is controlled, and each apartment has an intercom so residents can provide entry to their friends and family. Apartments have carpeted living rooms and bedrooms, vinyl tile in the kitchen and bathroom, and a walk-in storage closet. Each unit has a patio or balcony. While meals are not provided, the Meals on Wheels program offers low-cost lunch weekdays in the spacious dining/activity room.

While younger residents are often on the go, many older residents live here into their 90's and beyond.
For the entire community, there is a library, computer/game room with free internet access, a pool table, hair salon and commercial-grade laundry room. The attractive, modern building has open spaces on each floor which are ideal for visiting with fellow residents, family members and friends.

Residents have many social events, such as Wii bowling, Bingo, movie nights, card games, parties and outdoor picnics in warm weather. The central front area features a fountain, benches, a flower garden and a large patio area with a barbeque grill for residents to enjoy. The lush, shaded grounds back to the woods.

The parking lot provides many handicap accessible spaces. Low-cost transportation is available through the City’s Senior Services program, which offers rides on SMART vans. Allen Terrace is within walking distance of the downtown area, with its restaurants, arts district, library, community center, and nearby stores for groceries, household goods and personal care items.
