Programs and activities engage seniors

Seniors who live in the City or Township of Northville and surrounding areas have some of the best programming, events and outings of any local community – thanks to the shared Senior Services provided by the City of Northville and Northville Township. The home base is the beautiful Arts and Crafts-style Northville Community Center, located at 303 W. Main St. in Northville.

There are plenty of things to do there – from playing cards or bingo, to watching movies, exercising and working on puzzles and Sudoku. Holidays often mean party time for seniors – with delicious food and great entertainment. A variety of fitness and yoga classes geared toward seniors is offered at the center, including yoga, Zumba and strength training.

These include monthly lunches at area restaurants and scheduled bus trips to the Detroit Institute of Arts, theaters and casinos, as well as tours to major attractions in southeastern Michigan and neighboring regions.

Transportation by shuttle bus is available to seniors for local trips to doctors’ offices, grocery stores and other places that are important for good health and well-being. This is offered at a low cost, thanks to funding from SMART, Oakland and Wayne County, and Northville city and township. Medical trips are offered at a reduced rate, with generous funding from St. Mary Mercy Livonia, which is part of the Saint Joseph Mercy Health System.
