The City of Northville Housing Commission was created by Northville City Council ordinance in 1970. The role of the Housing Commission is to set policy and provide guidance for the management of Allen Terrace. Allen Terrace is an apartment community for independent senior citizens who are 62 years and older.
Allen Terrace, built in 1978, has 98 one-bedroom apartments and 2 two-bedroom apartments. No local, state, or federal funds support Allen Terrace. All operating, maintenance, and debt service expenses are covered by resident rents. Allen Terrace rents remain below market rate and include heat, electricity and water. Building Authority Bonds financed the construction of
Allen Terrace.
The Housing Commission consists of a five-member board appointed by the mayor. Housing Commission staff includes the Housing Director, Maintenance Manager, Administrative Assistant, and on-call maintenance assistant. The Housing Commission meets on the second Wednesday of each month at Allen Terrace.
