The new water main has been connected to the existing main located near the Ford Field parking lot and is now in service. Water pressure has been restored to those impacted. Crews will be back on site on Thursday for any additional cleanup. There were no interruptions to the water during the final connection, which was completed on Wednesday, Feb. 24.

The work on Griswold, north of Main Street, resulted in some temporary road closures. Along with the water main repair, Consumers Power made a repair on Tuesday to a nearby gas line. They were back on Thursday, making another repair. As such, Griswold remained closed Wednesday night and Thursday morning. It should open later on Thursday, Feb. 25.

Throughout the week-long repair, no Boil Water Advisory was needed. Water is flowing to area homes and businesses and continues to be safe to drink. The map shows the impacted area (in red) where water service was at times at lower pressure than normal until final repairs were made.

The initial break to the water main occurred during a winter snow storm on Tuesday, Feb. 16. Due to the depth and location of the break, a contractor was called in to make emergency repairs. After the water main was repaired and water pressure was restored, additional water main breaks near the initial one were discovered. The contractor and DPW staff worked as a team to repair those breaks.
