Police Reports and Records
Copies of police reports may be obtained from the Records Bureau between the hours 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.  Police Records can be reached at 248-305-2715.  Hours may vary depending on staff scheduling.

Records requested from this agency will be processed according to the provisions outlined under the 1976 PA442, known as the Freedom of Information Act.

Incidents/accidents are reported to the agency, which the incident/accident has occurred. Northville City and Northville Township  share a combined Communications center, however each agency is responsible for maintaining their own records. Your Request for Records may be presented:

Clearance Letters

Clearance letters are provided to Northville City residents, and are often required for adoption, immigration and employment purposes. You can request a Clearance letter/background check, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Local records are searched for contacts against Northville City Police Department records only. The background checks are provided and notarized for a fee of $10. When applying for a records check, valid picture ID must be presented.


Criminal History Checks

The general public can obtain additional information on criminal history records, through ICHAT.  ICHAT is an internet tool that allows public records contained in the Michigan Criminal History Records to be accessed.
