Residential Compost Collection Program

Yard waste collection services have resumed

The City of Northville is working with its contractor, Waste Management, to begin picking up yard waste of City residents. If you have yard waste, place it at the curb on your regular trash day beginning the week of April 20.

Yard waste collection may be delayed beyond your regular service day, since Waste Management is working with limited crews and is focused on delivering essential services.

To prevent residents from having to store bags of yard waste on their property, the City has set up a dumpster temporarily at the Dept. of Public Works facility at 650 Doheny Drive. City of Northville residents will be able to access it daily. This dumpster is for yard waste only. Please do not place trash in the dumpster or leave debris in the drive.

Compost Containers

Grass clippings, leaves, and garden waste may be placed in 30 gallon PAPER COMPOST BAGS, or in 35 gallon reusable containers with sturdy handles marked “COMPOST” or marked with an “X”. Lids must not be placed on the reusable containers. Stickers for reusable containers are available from the Public Works Department in City Hall or from the City Hall vestibule, which is open 24 hours a day.

No containers over 50 pounds or over 35 gallons in size.  No plastic bags.
